We supported the Greater Egypt Planning Commission with identifying future freight trends for their five-county region in southern Illinois. We disaggregated FHWA’s Freight Analysis Framework data to forecast future freight tonnage in and out of the region by mode, commodity, and industry. This included identifying major partner regions serving as importers or exporters. This information was used to develop recommendations to help position the Greater Egypt region for future economic growth.
